Chinese and Russian timber dealers actively respond to the new pattern of world timber trade

In his speech, Mr. Liu Nengwen, President of the China timber and wood products Circulation Association, stressed that China is a friendly neighbor of Russia, and that Sino Russian timber trade and investment cooperation has a unique foundation. Russia is one of the most abundant forest resources in the world, forest volume ranked first in the world, accounting for nearly 1/4 of the world's total forest volume, especially in the Russian Far East, mostly coniferous timber resources, variety and transportation cost has obvious advantages. China is the largest developing country in the world with a rigid timber market demand. The annual growth of timber demand in China is about 10%.
Through the joint efforts of Chinese and Russian timber colleagues, the two countries have witnessed rapid development in timber trade and investment, and Russia has become the largest source of imported logs in china. In 2012, China imported 11 million 180 thousand cubic meters of Russian logs, 6 million 210 thousand cubic meters of sawn timber, accounting for nearly 1/3 of China's total timber imports in the year. However, the timber trade between China and Russia has changed in recent years, the structure, the proportion of timber imports from Russia increased considerably, and the proportion of imported logs decreased year by year; quantity, the Russian timber is declining in the China market share, while New Zealand Canada Wood and timber share is increasing. In 2003, China imported 15 million 170 thousand cubic meters of Russian timber (logs and sawn timber), accounting for 45.6% of China's total imports in 2012, accounting for only 29.8% of China's total imports in those years. To actively respond to the new pattern of timber trade between China and Russia, as well as new policies on the export of logs in Russia after entering WTO, promote the long-term stable development of Sino Russian timber trade and investment, we cooperate with the relevant government hosted the meeting.
